In Memory of Tillie Stark

Stark, Othelia 'Tillie' passed away peacefully at home in Hardy, Arkansas on August 11, 2010. She was born on March 8, 1917 to Andrew and Jodi (Mahan) Rogers.

Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband of 49 years, Calvin Stark.

She is survived by her three children, JoAnn McKean (Larry), Roger Stark (Brenda) and Terry Stark (Lynne) and her three sisters, Odelia Davis, Retha Davis-Fitch and Mae Collier. Also surviving to cherish her memory are seven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom she held dear.

Mrs. Stark was a lifelong resident of the Hardy area and an active member of the Hardy Church of Christ. She enjoyed participating in the Hardy Garden Club and was a strong supporter of the Hardy Merchants Association as an antique dealer for many years. Prior to her years in the antique business, Miss Tillie earned a reputation for making the most delicious pies in the South. We were blessed to have her with us for 93 years and we entrust her to the Lord's care until we meet again.

Twin Tillies

'A tale of two Tillies, both dear to my heart;
there's always been Tillies, right from the start.

One carried me when my journey began;
from cowboy a kid, to cowboy a man.

The other continues, she carries the mail;
We've both seen the likes of treacherous trails.

Stubborn are both and sometimes they balk;
If one would just hush, the other could talk.

All is complete, kids and the wife;
Twin Tillies to boot, Oh, what a life.

Sometimes when I'm talking to Tillie of mine;
I seem to forget the importance of time.

The calmness of heart and patience they hold;
Lessons of life, this I am told.

My prayer to my Lord, would always be;
Twin Tillies around to watch over me."
